whilst trolling mindless self indulgence’s tumblr, eric & i came across a video we had never heard of. luckily for us, it turned out to be some SICK SHIZ. ‘money shot’ is a track from mustard pimp featuring. none other than everyone’s favorite frontman, MSI’s JIMMY URINE! it’s also set to some serious animated insanity – check it out!

Considering what a Hot Topicized piece of shit the last Mindless Self Indulgence album “If” was (click here to read a review of “If” detailing why it was so f-ing lame. I’m not judging, I know, I would do it too. It’s not easy for a local NYC act to secure their financial future in order to keep rocking for years to come.. but… It must have sucked playing with such shitty bands like Linkin Park and My Chemical Romance and dealing with their screaming prepubescent fans/older …fans, who still like them!?!), I am stupidly happy to see how awesome the new Left Rights album “Bad Choices Made Easy” is. Now the last Left Rights album had more songs about poop and hard onz than I could ever ask for. This album has even more poop! Even more HARD ONZ! LITTLE HARD ONZ at that!
But what is that under all those pubes? A hidden Mindless Self Indulgence album?!
Here’s how to get a full MSI album out of “Bad Choices Made Easy”:
Step one: get “Bad Choices Mad Easy“ (don’t torrent it!)
Step two: Steal the album cover image from whoever you can using Google image search (get the one without any words on it to make step 3 easier).
Step three: Photoshop “Mindless Self Indulgence” onto the picture in some shitty form or another. Here’s mine:
Step four: Now here’s the step that actually matters. Take the following tracks (the order I put them in rocks):
1. Fuck MSI: Seriously, other than being left off “Despierta Los Niños” (yeah didn’t think I’d notice you recycling that airplane sample from Wack!) why does this even exist, it doesn’t have anything to do with the Left Rights.
2. I’m on Crack: Hey if a real Left Rights album could have mad MSI references, a fake MSI one can have one. Samples Left Rights’ last album but again, over a minute and goes from verse to chorus.
3. Why You In My Phyzical: Auto-tuned madness, straight to the punch, this song fucken rocks and really it makes me wonder, Why You In My Phyzical?
4. Genesis 16:12: no poop + no Steve + video game references + over 1 minute = MSI
5. Super Suburb Chix: Aside from xylophone and pitch change, the samples on this song make it sound like it got kicked off “Frankenstein Girls” (unlike Mark David fucken Chapman which was made after compiling the results from a couple of online voting polls and was supposed to sound like “Frankenstein Girls”… it didn’t… for shit… at all…. total fail)
6. Geeks for Fans: Quotes from the interviewer on the track, “When is the TIGHT re-release? Where are the other members of Mindless Self Indulgence?” Talking about MSI = MSI
7. XYZPDQBGS: Examine that zipper! Just sounding verrry mindlessy. That’s about it.
8. Whistling Dixie: (see #7)
9. White: “This is better than standing still at a Radiohead concert.” Saving the best for last, White is pure MSI. The sarcasm! The insensitive references! All with a touch of nonsense and it’s catchy as hell. Here’s their badass video directed by Jhonen Vasquez (this video is such….. an experience).
And that’s it! You now have a new MSI album!
If you want to be super spiffy throw these tracks into a program like NERO where you can take out the time in between the tracks and overlay them by a second, really making it sound like an album (and make you not seem so desperate for new not sucky songs from MSI you lame ass… or not).

p.s. to be fair Animal, Revenge, Mark David Chapman, Pay For It are all old songs recorded for “If,” but … I’ll stick with the live versions of the first two (especially Revenge) and the demos for the last two… just saying.

5. wishing well – black sabbath. DIO can do no wrong, and now he’s slaying dragons (or befriending them?!) in heaven. LOVE this song. ‘THROW ME A PENN-AYYYY & I’LL MAKE YOU A DREAMMM.’ YES.
so we’ve been M.I.A. that’s okay, because it’s time to regroup.. and recap february ’08.
we began with one of our favorite brooklyn bands, night kills the day, at the knitting factory, along with openers ghost front, a rant about people NOT MOVING at shows, and a little look into NKD history and why you should definitely check out their album, “the study of man… and the developed shadow.”
then we took a look at a remix of mindless self indulgence’s new single, “never wanted to dance,” the current state of MSI affairs, and the purple-electro-prettiness that is the birthday massacre (the band that remixed the single and will be on MSI’s upcoming tour).
next we had a recap of another of our favorite brooklyn bands, the giraffes, at the shitty excuse for a venue – rockwood music hall (which actually made for quite a memorable performance.. and a priceless post-show interview), and following that, a plug of the giraffes performing one of their newest songs, “smoke machine,” on fearless music tv.
last, we had the captain share with all of us a lovely little flash animation called SALAD FINGERS.. and after that no one could look at spoons.. or rust.. or rusty spoons.. the same – ever again.

so mindless self indulgence is teaming up with the birthday massacre on tour.. and now they’re releasing yet another little cd of remixes in march for the massive consumption of the mindless public. the single to be remixed: “never wanted to dance” ? eep.. take a listen on MSI’s myspace – it’s not the actual single, but the birthday massacre remixed it. i got a little scared upon listening to the first few (sparkly) seconds, but i don’t know – it’s fast, it’s a little schizo, it even has double bass blasts!! whatttt. girly background vocals by.. a girl? hm. jimmy’s singing about dancing! hella heavily. and.. i actually really like this. do i??! do i!?!??!!
i really didn’t expect to like this track as much as i do. i guess it sounds.. different. the other teaser tracks they’ve been posting haven’t really caught my attention, and sometimes i feel like we’ve reached a point with MSI where you can’t hope for massive awesomeness, as much as you want to, because you might be slapped in the face with another remix cd or another idiotic networking site overloaded with bloodthirsty scene kids or another ridiculously overpriced tour with bands it once seemed they wouldn’t share a stage with. they’re insanely whoring the shit out of the internet, but i guess.. being completely tongue in cheek and pulling all of these bullshit stunts is what MSI have always been about, and we’ve always supported because they delivered – the music was undeniably and incomparably BADASS in a way that has solidified the band in a class of their own, no matter what they produce in the future, but also because – it was fucking funny to see how far they could take their joke.
so now there’s the birthday massacre.. they’ve got bunnies.. and purple.. electro-gothy-prettiness.. and a tatted, raven-haired girl in pigtails with a punky-lolita fashion sense singing the vox! sweet ….. ???? semi-undecided. this reminds me of when i first got into evanescence! aww.. way back when in 2003. but anyway.. yeah. “never wanted to dance.” MSI are trekking around the globe and pacifying us with the remixes before their new full-length album, “if,” drops in april of this year.
check the lyrics: “never wanted to dance with nobody but you, never wanted to dance with nobody but you, never wanted to dance with nobody but you, i wouldn’t take no for an answer.. you fucking BITCH!” okay, now i really like this.
you bastards. rape and pillage the fans and then have a band with purple bunnies remix your song about DANCING – and do it WELL.
.. you’re lucky because dancing and double bass blasts and psychojimmyvocals just happen to be just a few of my weaknesses =P ;D the ball is in your court, MSI!
