there is NOTHING better than unexpectedly finding a new favorite band, especially when you’re at a show seeing a band that’s already one of your favorites, and – lucky for us - that is exactly what happened to eric and i when we saw electric six at bowery ballroom last month!

we’ve been somewhat – okay, REALLY – spoiled by the outrageous bands we love, but we pretty much give everything a chance. we’re definitely NOT the concertgoers who stand stone-faced with arms crossed while seeing a new band or a band we don’t 150% dig. be openminded and you’ll always be pleasantly surprised.. and, well – atlanta, georgia’s insane psychedelic-soul-rock-explosion THE CONSTELLATIONS turned out to be even MORE than a pleasant surprise..

the constellations have all those things we look for in a favorite band, especially a unique and unexpected blend of sounds delivered via a hardcore roller coaster of stage presence. in short: tight performance, crazy energy. they’ve got that sexy southern soul mixed with blues, rock and roll, funk, electronica, and even hints of spoken word and hip-hop. to hear something so absolutely REAL, funky, and refreshing AND truly connect with their live energy is something so joyous it can’t be described.

since we saw them last month, their brand new disc southern gothic has been on heavy rotation. check out ‘love is a murder,’ ‘setback,’ ‘perfect day,’ ‘on my way up,’ ‘we’re here to save the day,’ ‘step right up,’ and of course their deliciously dirty and crazy catchy single, ‘felicia’!

check this band out NOW NOW NOW online, on myspacefacebook, and twitter. AND! check out some quick vids i shot at bowery ballroom to get a feel for this trip…

we’re here to save the day:
